All The Body Shop stores owned by Rampai Niaga Sdn Bhd observed the National Day of Mourning by turning off all lights in the stores for a minute and by turning off all music from 10.45am till 11.30am today.
The Body Shop is deeply saddened with the falling of MH17 and is keeping the families of the victims in their thoughts and prayers.
Moving forward, in conjunction with the International Day of Peace, The Body Shop wants to encourage peace activism in every individual whom they can engage with, namely their customers, Facebook and Twitter followers, colleagues, business partners, NGO partners, the media, children at school, political figures, and influencers at large.
Each year, the International Day of Peace is observed on the 21st of September. The United Nations has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and people. The theme this year is Right of People to Peace.
In promoting this message, The Body Shop will hang peace mobiles in all their shops from today right up to the 21st of September. Customers will also be given a chance to make a Pinwheel of Peace with their personalised message to be hung in the stores.
A pinwheel is a childhood symbol – it reminds us of a time when things were simple, joyful and peaceful. The spinning of the pinwheel in the wind will spread good thoughts and feelings about peace throughout the country and eventually the world.
