Malaysian songstress Shila Amzah, who recently got nominated for a Global Chinese Music Awards, just got engaged to Haris Idraki Elias in a private ceremony at her Cheras home on November 3.

Her fiancé, 28-year-old Haris, is a family friend, and he previously worked at The Star as a reporter before moving on into the financial sector in London.

Shila’s father said, “He asked for my blessing to marry Shila a few months ago. I approved because he’s very down-to-earth and our families have known each other for a long time.”

The 27-year-old singer, who rose to stardom after she won the Asian Wave reality singing competition in China in 2012, shared the happy news on Instagram. Her talent has also led her to become one of the most popular Malay Mandopop stars in Asia.
