The managers of Starbucks Hong Kong have a lot of explaining to do, and if you get a cup of Starbucks on a daily basis (especially in Hong Kong), you might want to read this piece with caution.
A Starbucks outlet in Hong Kong’s Bank of China outlet has come under fire after photos of a tap next to a urinal labelled “Starbucks Only” in the men’s bathroom surfaced over the internet.
In other words, the Starbucks coffee shop has been brewing coffee with ..you guessed it – toilet water.
The store is in fact aware that the staff uses the faucet to be coffee. Starbucks spokeswoman, Wendy Pang said: “There is no direct water supply to that particular store, that’s why we need to obtain the drinking water from the nearest source in the building”.
She added that the shop has now switched to distilled water. Pang stressed that the water passed through a filtration system before being used to brew coffee, and not used directly. She also said that this was done in order to meet local and World Health Organization (WHO) water standards.
Pang says the store has now switched to distilled water.
