This year, Oribe is proud to partner with award-winning Kenyan fine art photographer Thandiwe Muriu to create the packaging for six exclusive gift sets. Muriu’s artwork, deeply rooted in her African heritage, captures the spirit of community, beauty, and the power of togetherness.
Inspired by the African proverb “When your sister does your hair, you do not need a mirror,” Muriu’s designs reflect the shared experience of hair care as a meaningful, communal act. Her vibrant patterns and bold colours honour the joy of connection while celebrating the natural beauty and strength of African women.
Muriu’s unique style combines rich, intricate textiles from African cultures and upcycled eyewear crafted from everyday materials. Her designs not only celebrate Kenyan creativity but also align perfectly with Oribe’s values of innovation and beauty.

The collection features two bespoke textile patterns created by Muriu:
- “A Cycle of Togetherness,” symbolising the unbroken circle of community and love, inspired by traditional African ankara prints and Oribe’s strong connection to its global hair community.
- “Strands of History,” a wavy pattern deconstructed from the shape of the Curl Gloss Hydration & Hold bottle, celebrating the beauty and craftsmanship of Oribe’s products.
