Signs You’re No Longer In A Childish Relationship

Love is everywhere in this world and sometimes the media portrays love to be something that it isn’t: a dramatic and tumultuous experience. Sure, there’s unrequited love, which eventually does ensue its own kind of drama but a mature relationship has more love than it does nonsense. Dramatic relationships are not appealing in the slightest, which leaves me confused when I see someone in that kind of relationship.

Some people seem to find what would be deemed as a normal relationship to be boring. But the truth is, mature relationships are not boring at all, it’s actually beautiful and good for the soul. So, how do you know that you’re no longer in a childish relationship, which will leave you feeling exhausted and exasperated? Here are some of the signs:

You call each other out on things
The two of you don’t always agree on each other but that doesn’t mean it has to end badly. Both of you have something different to contribute to the relationship and are open to learn new things. Not only because you know it’s beneficial to the relationship but also it will help you grow as individuals.

You don’t expect change
When you fall in love with someone, you fall for who they are as a person and who they will eventually become as your partner. You accept that the other person has flaws and learn to appreciate each one of them in time. When people expect the other person to change, usually for no good reason, it doesn’t end up well.

You’re a natural at being his significant other
You don’t feel pressured to behave a certain way or feel anxious at just about every thing when it comes to your relationship. You feel comfortable enough to be your weird self and nothing with him feels like a chore.

You don’t need to check on him
This is one major factor in a mature relationship. You get that you’re two separate people with different lives but sharing them together. Not one entity and have this incessant need to check up on one another every five minutes.

You have a connection
This doesn’t necessarily mean it’s about sex but being in a mature relationship usually means that two people have a real connection. You’re able to predict his mood on a certain day or after a certain occasion. That predictability is one of the most comforting things a person can feel when in a relationship.

You trust each other
You’re okay with him hanging out with friends that are girls without worrying that he will cheat and vice versa. You’re both so secure in the relationship that thoughts of infidelity won’t even cross your minds.

You show your love for one another
It’s more than just saying “I love you.” Showing that you truly do love one another becomes more of an important thing as opposed to saying it. It’s really what you do that says you love each other, not how often you say it.
