Wow, the Chinese radio station 988 just announced the nominees for the Outstanding Regional Artiste (Malaysia) category under the 17th Global Chinese Music Awards (GCMA 2017), and Shila Amzah is the only Malay singer on that list. That’s quite the achievement!
If the talented KL-born lass wins, she will be representing Malaysia at the awards show which will be hosted in Beijing. Two years ago, Shila was also nominated for the same award at the 15th GCMA, but did not win.
However, she was the first Malay singer at the GCMA to bag the Best Female Stage Performer award in 2015. Introduced in 2000, the annual GCMA is hosted with seven affiliate Asian radio stations amongst China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia.
Other Malaysian artistes nominated for the Outstanding Regional Artiste (Malaysia) at the 17th GCMA include Namewee, Gin Lee, Shio Quek, Penny Tai, Danny One, Orange Tan, ThomasJack, Ribbon Ooi and FS Fuying & Sam.
