Shaving Cream As Make Up Remover: Yay or Nay?

The next time you wake up in a stranger’s house after a night of sexy rendezvous and your makeup looks like sh*t (’cause you ain’t sleeping beauty), you now know what to look for – his shaving cream. It may not be the best solution, but when the situation calls for it, this could be your backup plan.

Beauty blogger Maria Yaeger has discovered a bizarre beauty hack, in which a common shaving cream can be substituted with make up remover. She claims that the products work pretty much the same way, perfectly scraping every inch of make up off your face.

In a video posted on Instagram, Maria is seen trying out the hack, which included nothing but a bottle of Gillette to wipe all her makeup away. She commented, “So, I decided to give it a try to the Shaving Gel to take off my makeup and guess what, worked out pretty good. What do you guys think about this?”

The response varies. While some can’t stop raving about how creative the beauty blogger is, some questions the legitimacy of this technique. “Wouldn’t rubbing anything on your face take your make up off?” one person asked, before another chimed in asking Maria if she was kidding with the video.

Instagram users are flocking to her social media account, suggesting that she use coconut oil instead as it is organic and would not leave any burns on the skin.

Well, here’s a fun fact: If you’re a makeup junkie, you’d know that foundation stains are prevalent and apparently, it has been proven that shaving cream/gel works best to remove tough and greasy stains from oil-free foundation on shirts.

Is it harmful to the skin though?
