A man claiming to be a Salafist-Wahhibist cleric thinks that some should stop turning on their air conditioners at home because it’s a sign they’re at home and that it could lead to immoral activities. The cleric allegedly put the word out on Twitter, however sources have yet to verify the legitimacy of the tweeter.
He said:
“Turning on the cooler ventilator is prohibited for women in the absence of their husbands [because] the woman’ act is very dangerous, and may bring about immorality in the society. When she turns the cooler on, someone may notice her presencence at home, and this might bring about immorality”.
You mean the immoral act of sweating our butts off?
Sources say that the statement made by the clerics “have a distorted reading of Islam” and their decrees are “incompatible with common sense”. While it’s never a wrong thing to follow the guidelines of a religion to preserve culture, these bizarre decrees are not only oppressive but inconsiderate to people living in harsh conditions.
