Obsessed with makeup? Chances are you’re probably familiar with the Too Faced Chocolate Bar eyeshadow palettes that are formulated with real cocoa powder, making the eyeshadows smell absolutely delectable and good enough to eat.
Even though I didn’t fancy the Semi-Sweet palette due to its cooler-toned shades, the original Chocolate Bar palette is one of my favourite eyeshadow palettes of all time and I haven’t been able to put down the latest Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons palette ever since I got my hands on it.
The previous Chocolate Bar palettes come in playful chocolate-bar inspired tins, and Too Faced has definitely taken the packaging for its latest palette up a notch. The eyeshadows are encased in an adorable baby pink metal tin with embossed hearts all around and it is to die for. Not only is it cute, it’s also extremely sturdy and comes with a magnetic clasp. It isn’t bulky and would be a great travel companion.
Once opened, the palette unveils 16 matte and shimmer heart-shaped eyeshadows that consist of many beautiful go-to neutrals and several pops of sugary bright colours. You also get a big mirror that would be convenient for doing makeup while you’re on the go.
Before I delve into the shades, I must point out that these eyeshadows did not disappoint. Similar to its predecessors, the eyeshadows in the Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons palette are very smooth and buttery. Most importantly, the eyeshadows are greatly pigmented and are easy to blend.
Here’s a swatch of all the eyeshadow colours available in the palette. As you can see, there are two light neutral highlight shades that come in a bigger quantity (rectangular pans) compared to the heart-shaped ones. Satin Sheets is a gorgeous shimmery champagne shade that is perfect for the inner corners whereas Divinity is a matte pale yellow shade that is good for all over the eyelids to set any eyeshadow base.
On the daily, I use Almond Truffle (muted mauve), Molasses Chip (metallic coppery bronze), Pecan Praline (taupe brown), Mocha (warm medium brown) and Bordeaux ( dark burgundy brown) a lot. I absolutely love this neutral combination on my eyes and the eyeshadow look goes well with any bright lip colour.
Even though I’m a neutral kind of girl, I’ve grown to fall in love with Totally Fetch (bright fuchsia pink) and Black Currant (dark purple plum) for more fun, going-out looks. Surprisingly, the vibrant colours look totally wearable when paired nicely.
For a smokey eye, Earl Grey is an amazing almost duo-chrome blackened teal shade that looks different in every light. To brighten up the centre of the eyelids or to layer on top of other eyeshadows, I love using Cafe Au Lait (brown with golden, champagne metallic sheen) or Sprinkles (light pink with gold sheen).
With the Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons palette, the eyeshadow looks you can create are limitless and it’s a very versatile palette, whether you’re doing everyday makeup or something more glamorous for special events. If you haven’t gotten your hands on any of the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palettes, I would highly recommend this one!
