[REVIEW] MAC Cremeblend Blush in Optimistic Orange

The Shop MAC Cook MAC Collection that’s now available at all MAC stores nationwide consists of 32 individual products from eyeshadow palettes to blushers to lipsticks. Of course as the Spring 2012 collection, the colors are vibrant and loud but the question is: are they wearable?

Most of the items in Shop MAC Cook MAC are limited edition and while the inner packaging is the standard black MAC boxes, the outer dust sleeves are designed based on the range you’re getting. The MAC Cremeblend Blush in Optimistic Orange that we’ll be reviewing today is part of the Cook MAC collection.

PRODUCT CLAIMS

Creamy, easy to blend medium coverage formula imparts a natural finish that’s smooth, dewy-fresh, long lasting. The icing on the cake: the collection’s signature gingham outer packaging.

SIZE

5.6 g / 0.19 US oz

PACKAGING

Like all MAC eyeshadows, blushers and powders, the come in a firm, sleek, black click on casing which you can bring around safely without worrying about product spillage. Upon removing the product from the box, we were shocked to see how orange it was, in fact it’s actually brighter in real life, almost neon. The color is in fact a bright coral color.

PRODUCT TEXTURE & STAYING POWER

The product feels creamy and somewhat oily upon touch, you can opt to use a brush or your fingers to blend out the blush but we find that buffing the blush out with a brush gives a sheerer finish probably because most of it went into the brush. However you can choose to wear them boldly or sheered out for a more natural finish. Its emollient texture makes these Cremeblend Blushes are very blendable.

This blush is very pigmented so a little goes a long way and you want to blend, blend and blend until you get that beautiful glow you’re going for. Orange may seem like an unlikely color for blush but it works very well on people who have warmer undertones like myself although I’m neither too fair nor dark skinned.

OUR THOUGHTS

We tested this blush for a whole day at work and towards the end of the day, I was surprised to find at least 70% of color on my cheeks after 10 hours of wear even with slight blotting throughout. If you want to enhance the staying power, dust a light layer of translucent powder on top of your cheeks after applying the blush, especially if you have oily skin.

Although I’ve never personally tried any shade than pink, I’m excited to have discovered this little gem of a color plus the creamy texture makes it total dream! Optimistic Orange is the perfect color for spring especially since Tangerine seems to be really huge on the runways this season.

PRICE

MAC’s Cremeblend Blush is available in 3 shades under the Cook MAC Collection at RM75. The three shades are: Optimistic Orange (Bright coral), Florida (Bright coral) and Restores Dazzle! (Rich plum).
