Recently, I’ve started becoming a little obsessed with skincare products and my addiction to watching videos by beauty gurus on YouTube only fueled that fascination even more. As a proud beauty junkie, I can finally say that my skin is well taken care of. I now spend more than 10 minutes each day in the mornings and at night time pampering my skin with seven products altogether. Besides cleansing my skin, I also use a toner, tea tree oil, serum, essential oil, eye cream and finally, a moisturiser to seal all the goodness in my skin. It’s extremely therapeutic, let me tell you.
I haven’t been able to try that many high-end skincare products and when I was given Bobbi Brown’s Extra Bright Advanced Moisture Cream, I was really excited to use it and see what wonders it can do for my skin. First off, let me say that I’m pretty particular about my moisturisers. They can’t be too watery or thick, nor can they be oily as I hate looking like I have a film of oil on my skin. Before I tell you my thoughts on the product, let’s take a look at its claims which can be found on the Bobbi Brown website.
What it is: With the exclusive SuperCitrus Complex, this intensely moisturising yet lightweight cream helps visibly reduce skin-dulling dark spots, discolourations and unevenness over time. It boosts skin’s moisture levels and strengthens its protective barrier, too, so skin looks fresh, healthy and glowing.
Who is it for: All skin types and anyone who wants skin that looks brighter and more even-toned.
Why is it different: Unlike most brightening treatments that can be drying, our formula actually boosts skin’s moisture – an essential for glowing skin. A super-moisturising blend of glycerin, sodium hyaluronate and cucumber extract provides instant and long-term hydration, while linoleic acid strengthens skin’s moisture barrier so skin looks plump and healthy. Upon unscrewing the cap, the first thing I did was take whiff of the product. If you know me, you’d know that I cannot stand heavy scents in my products. Thankfully, the product has a pleasant light citrus scent that’s somewhat calming and rejuvenating. For its consistency and texture, I’d say that the cream is moderately thick and it is also very smooth. A little goes a very long way with this product, so one jar can last you a very long time. I only needed a very small pea-sized amount for my whole face and with so little, I could even bring the cream down to my neckline.
It feels very comfortable to wear and it blends in very well. Although you’d feel that the product is greasy when you first pick it up on your fingertips, it soaks into the skin effortlessly and it doesn’t make you feel or look oily. Some people prefer to use heavier creams at night time so that they wouldn’t look like a grease ball mid-day, but this cream is perfect to wear even for the mornings. It instantly plumps up my skin, makes me look more awake, hydrates and makes my skin extremely soft to the touch.
I wear makeup daily and I’m happy that this cream wears really well under makeup. I tend to go for makeup products with a matte finish because of my oily combination skin and sometimes, that can make me look really flat. With this cream on, I apply my makeup as usual and it would leave me with a subtle glow showing through on my face. LOVE!
After two weeks of using this product daily, I’d say that it does brighten your skin from within and my skin looks and feels more healthy. When I look closely at my skin, my pores now appear smaller than when I didn’t use this product and I love how pampering the cream feels on the skin. I also notice less redness and overall, my skin tone is much more even. It’s true when they say you should splurge on skincare, because it really does make me look and feel amazing.
I’d recommend this product to anyone who has uneven skin tone and dull skin. This product would be splendid for anyone out there, really.
