Milan Fashion Week, one of the most prestigious high-fashion events, has come and gone, but many of us have yet to fully appreciate and admire all of the exquisite fashion that floated down the runways!
Ferrari presented its Fall/Winter 2022-23 collection with a co-ed Women and Men’s runway on February 27, featuring a slew of daywear and evening wear designs inspired by the personalities and passions of people leading the way in today’s changing aesthetics, society, and culture.
Designed by Creative Director Rocco lannone, the garment silhouettes are slim but not minimal, and they are made of natural materials combined with cutting-edge technological research. Without further ado, here are the pieces that graced the speedy runway!
The tailoring technique was used to cut and sew the jackets and coats, and the stitching is moved to the outside. The contoured shoulders, fine stitching, and flat-felled seams create a perfect silhouette that fits both the female and male body. The classic little black dress is now available in new materials, such as leather treated with innovative finishes that affect shape and some volumes that increase towards the hem.
Moving away from categorising garments as formal or casual, oversized jumpers and sweatshirts now embrace the more body-hugging proportions of typical leisurewear.
Like the oversized jumpers and sweatshirts, the trousers taper towards the ankles to express the idea of daywear not being restricted to the categories of formal or casual. These bomber jackets are made with different layers of materials such as nylon, leather, and cotton drill.
The cargo trousers are coated in black crystals, while the heat-sealed film gives the shearling a shiny outer layer that picks up on the colours visible on the inside. Furthermore, the iridescent-looking tailored suits are made of metallic fabrics. The suits, however, shine in the dark thanks to the jacquard weaving of the glow-in-the-dark yarn.
You’ve probably noticed the bright colours of the garments by now. From a symphony of blacks and the neutral colours grey and beige, to brighter tones like bold yellow, a deliberately dramatic red, and other colour combinations that begin with mixed shades like green.
In terms of materials, Ferrari followed its own sustainability principle by sourcing materials that meet the criteria of environmentally and socially sustainable fashion, such as using only organic cotton and GRS-certified recycled nylon, as well as Ecodown padding (made from recycled plastics) inside the jackets. Other natural fabrics include wool, cashmere, cotton drill, silk, and leather.
Ferrari paid special attention to the accessories, which are an essential part of an aesthetic vision and fashion choice, in addition to the stunning garments. The bags are small, rigid, shiny, and come in a variety of bright colours, while the glasses have mask-shaped lenses that cover the entire eye area thanks to small metal clips that connect other small lenses to the rounded corners of the main lens.
The show was held at Pavilion 3 of Fiera Milano City, an architectural location with powerful visuals, a modern building with monumental value in line with the history of Italian architecture. Aside from the show’s iconic location, the lighting was also designed to emphasize the rhythm and speech of the runway show in both directions, showcasing the contents of this astounding collection!
Ferrari has certainly stepped up its game in terms of sustainable high fashion garments, and this collection will undoubtedly be a fashion staple this fall/winter season!
