Panda Eyes Begone!

Pandas and luggage bags jokes aside, having eyebags is no laughing matter. While some may think they add character, those are also the same people who do not know what it’s like to haul around these excess baggage under their eyes. Eyebags, also known as undereye circles are a common beauty problem regardless of skin type, race or gender and are caused by many factors such as insomnia, allergies and excessive consumption of sodium or alcohol not forgetting water retention.

Once you identify the cause of your eyebags, take steps to address the problem. If you’ve been staying up till the wee hours of the morning, force yourself to hit the sheets earlier (your liver and skin will thank you for it!). If you’re an avid drinker who binges on chips, cut down on those and pick up some apples instead. Eyebags are not something that disappear overnight, it takes a gradual change of lifestyle to rid those panda eyes but in the mean time try sliced cucumbers or a chilled tablespoon over your eyes to reduce puffiness but sometimes if you don’t have the luxury of time to do either, a little makeup magic will do the trick.

Behold the concealer. Besides concealing acne scars, concealers are used to even out your eyebags to lighten the area around your eyes making you look fresher and awake. Choose a concealer that is one or two shades lighter than your actual skin ton especially if you plan to wear foundation. If you’ve already got good skin, you might want to skip the foundation and choose a concealer closer to your skin tone.

The skin under the eye area is very thin and delicate so you have to consider carefully the type of concealer you plan to use such as a mineral or cream stick concealer. Oily skin will work better with a finely milled mineral concealer with oil absorbing properties while skin with larger pores tend to be more suitable with stick concealers.

There are different colors for concealers depending on what you are planning to conceal. For example if you have bluish purple dark circles, use a concealer with a slightly yellow base. If yours have a red tinge, use a color correcting green concealer to neutralize the redness.

Concealers that are specially meant for undereye dark circles are usually enriched with moisturizers and vitamins, and the formula is usually less thicker than concealers meant to cover up acne or scars. Don’t hold back on getting a good concealer or foundation as good products help make you look flawless and preps your skin for other makeup products you may use above them.

For good staying power, invest in water-resistant formulas to ensure your concealer stays on all day. Your might want to try them out at beauty counters before making a purchase and always let the sales assistant know your concerns and skin type to help you choose a concealer that best fits you.
