Nurul Izzah Anwar‘s marriage to husband Raja Ahmad Shahris Iskandar Raja Salim caught the public’s attention when The Star confirmed that the two were getting a divorce.
The Star had earlier reported that Lembah MP Nurul Izzah Anwar filed for a divorce under Fasakh (to annul the marriage) at the Syariah Court in Jalan Duta.
However, the Pakatan Rakyat Vice President denied the reports. When a follower of her Twitter account asked her if she really was seeking divorce from her husband, Nurul Izzah said she was not.
She also issued a statement stating the she and her husband will be doing their best to work out their “continuing reunion”.
She says that she is saddened by the intrusion into their private lives. “Our family is our priority, as is our time together. We thank all our supporters for their kind understanding, and appeal to all to accord us privacy,” she said in the statement.
Nurul Izzah and Raja Ahmad have been married for more than 10 years now, and have two children – Raja Nur Safiyah, seven, and Raja Jarith, four.
