If you have a collection of nail polish that you do not use anymore, don’t throw them away just yet! There are so many things you can do with your nail polish instead of tossing them into the bin. Here are some simple solutions to help you fix your old nail polish, and a few suggestions on how you can reuse them!

Nail Polish Remover – for Thickened Nail Polish
If you’ve found your favorite nail polish looking goopier than usual, reach out for a nail polish remover and add a few tiny drops of it into your nail polish. Place the nail polish cover back on, and then smack the bottle against the palm of your hand. Shaking the bottle will cause bubbles to form when you apply your nail polish.

OPI Nail Lacquer Thinner

Nail Polish Thinner – for Thickened or Hardened Nail Polish
A nail polish thinner is a life-saver especially when you want to maintain a growing collection of nail polish like a professional manicurist! Nail polish thinner contains toluene, ethyl acetate and butyl acetate, which able to transform your nail polish back into its original state. It’ll also help extend the shelf-life of your nail polish. To use, start with one or two drops, then shake gently. Test the consistency on your nail, and if the result doesn’t add up to your expectation, add another one or two drops.  (Source)

Roll Between Your Palms – for Slightly Thickened Nail Polish
This is the simplest technique to fix nail polish that has slightly thickened – applying a little heat from your body temperature. First, turn the bottle of nail polish upside down and roll the bottle between your palms for a few minutes. You’ll notice a slight difference in the texture after rolling it in your palms.

The Extreme Fix – Acetone + Orange Oil
Acetone is commonly used to remove nail polish in beauty salons and to eliminate any bacteria. They can be found in most beauty stores.  Drop a small amount of Acetone and the equal amount of orange oil into your bottle of nail polish. Stick a bunch of toothpicks (about 3) and stir the contents. Remove the toothpicks slowly and then check the consistency of the nail polish with a brush. (Source)

Decorate Them, Don’t Simply Toss
If you’re all about finding a one-of-a-kind mobile phone cover, create one yourself with the help of your old nail polish. Paint them over to create cool floral motifs, or add on multiple stripes of color!

Decorate an Old Pair of Shoes
If you have a pair of canvas shoes that looks like it needs a little revamping, get creative with your colored nail polish. If you have numerous nail polish colors, keep it simple by creating multi-colored polka dots all over the shoe. If it’s too dirty, simply dye your shoes first in a color of your choice, and decorate away!
