 Kate Moss for St Tropez

With Kate Moss as the new face of St Tropez fake tan, we can’t imagine there’d be a more dangerous campaign for those of you who love a good tan! Tanning’s great way to add more of a natural glow to your look without having to invest in expensive makeup palettes. Plus, you get a natural dose of Vitamin D that surprisingly promotes good health. Just don’t go overboard and don’t skip the sunscreen!

Here are some tips on getting and keeping the perfect tan so that hopefully you won’t need to result to a tanning bed.

1. Exfoliate

Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Body Scrub (RM62)

Get rid of all the dead skin on your body before laying out in the sun as exposure to the sun will only make your skin appear flaky and dry, especially if it is not hydrated. The new, smooth skin will take the sun a lot better as there will me more moisture.

2. Use Sunscreen or a Tanning Oil

Ole Henrikson Perfect Truth CC Creme SPF30 (RM90)

A sunscreen as opposed to a sunblock allows some sun to penetrate your skin while protecting you from harmful UVA and UVB rays. Tanning oil will give you less protection than sunscreen so if you go for that option you will want to keep reapplying to ensure you do not get burnt. Oils are also good as they will keep your skin slick and it reflects light so it increasing tanning speed!  Just be careful as this makes it harder to notice when you are burning!

3. Moisturise

The key to keeping your tan is to moisturise. Tinted lotions or moisturizers with cocoa in them make your tan appear darker than it is so that is always a great trick, they will also leave you smelling delicious! Also give shimmery lotions a try as they add a little touch of luminosity to your tan if it’s looking a bit dull!

4. Accessorise your tan

Now that you’ve got a great sun kissed look, show it off by dressing in colours that will compliment it and make it appear even darker! White and bright neon colours are great for this as they will pop against your skin tone. A shimmery lotion for when you are going out will also flatter your brown legs as you will, literally, be glowing.

Soap & Glory and Ole Henrikson are available in Sephora Malaysia.
