It’s that wonderful time of the year again, where we get to witness women with immaculate blow-dried hair give genuinely sincere answers about world peace/empowerment and strut around in heels, bikinis and glorious dresses.
Nearly 100 women from across the globe are currently competing for the 2017 Miss Universe crown in Las Vegas, with three contestants from Laos, Nepal and Cambodia making history by repping their countries in the pageant for the first time.
Unfortunately, Samantha Katie James who is representing Malaysia in Miss Universe 2017, did not make it through to the final round. This means we won’t get to see the beauty queen sashay in her highly controversial National Dress, which was inspired by Nasi Lemak, a popular dish in this region.
The dress which took one whole month to be completed, was made by Malaysian designer Brian Khoo and his team of six.

Here are the Miss Universe Top 10: Miss Venezuela, Miss USA, Miss Philippines, Miss Canada, Miss South Africa, Miss Spain, Miss Brazil, Miss Colombia, Miss Thailand and Miss Jamaica.
Meanwhile, Miss Japan Momoko Abe who stunned in checkered red, white and black kimono, won the national costume competition.

Initially, things looked quite promising for Miss Philippines Rachel Peters who have received tremendous support from famous Filipino celebrities who urged their fans to vote her.
Sadly, her journey ended at Top 10.

We’re down to three. The top three Miss Universe finalists are: Miss Jamaica, Miss Colombia and Miss South Africa.
And finally, the next #MissUniverse is… SOUTH AFRICA!! Major congratulations to Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, a 22-year-old business management graduate, who beat out 91 other candidates during the finals held in Las Vegas. South Africa last won Miss Universe in 1978.
