With an impressive track record like Coachella, Lollapalooza and St. Jerome’s Laneway, it’s little wonder why M83, the French electronic music band was one of the most anticipated bands at Urbanscapes 2016. And it was just as good as you’d imagine it to be!
Gonzalez and his fellow band members, Jordan Lawlor, Ian Young, Kaela Sinclair (keyboard), and Loic Maurin (drums), belted out all their anticipated hits like ‘Steve McQueen’, ‘Wait’, ‘Do It, Try It’, and of course, ‘Midnight City’.
There wasn’t much interaction with the crowd–but not that it mattered–the bewildered crowd at KL Live was busy cheering, jumping, and singing along, relishing every second of M83 on stage.
While Gonzalez and Lawlor kept the crowd occupied, saxophonist Ian Young stole the show whenever he played, his solos were intense and exuded so much passion. Sinclair wowed everyone with her haunting vocals while her fingers ran relentlessly on the keyboard, and Maurin showed us his prowess as a drummer.
The band ended on a high, with exquisite neon lightings that were just the perfect ending to a hypnotising night.
M83 was brought exclusively by Urbanscapes and their long-time partner, Tiger Beer.
“Tiger Beer has always supported arts and music, and we are happy to return to fulfil our long-standing partnership with Urbanscapes.” said Tiger Beer marketing manager Jessie Chuah.
Well, guys, keep bringing down these epic bands, we sure can’t wait for the next round of Urbanscapes!
