An act against cyberbullying has finally been put out in Australia to make Internet users think twice before trolling.
A Google chrome extension tool called Reword will basically ‘scold’ you if you try to say/send/type something bad to someone. It works the same as spellcheck would as it’s automated and a red line will appear through whatever unkind word that you wrote.
The tool was created by mental health organization Headspace and renown advertising agency Leo Burnett Melbourne, despite knowing that it will unlikely to be downloaded by a bully for self monitoring but with the intentions of hoping that the tool will be installed on school computers and across organizations.
“Sadly, online bullying is endemic. We’re encouraged that this is a tangible online tool that will genuinely help change behavior and reduce incidents of bullying, the pressures on children in social media are intense. Reword is one way we can help empower them in real time.” said Chris Tanti, CEO of Headspace, Australia’s National Youth Mental Health Foundation.
We sure do hope this tool will help us battle against cyberbullying as it is a serious matter.
