How I Met Your Mother star, Neil Patrick Harris is now a married man! Over the weekend, the 41-year-old actor tied the knot in Italy to David Burtka. The couple has been together for more than a decade and have two beautiful children (Gideon and Harper) together.
The grooms made their wedding as personal but as stylish as it can be as both wore custom Tom Ford tuxedos. As for the wedding singer, well it’s only right that they got Sir Elton John to perform at the reception!
“We happily confirm that Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka were married in Italy in an intimate ceremony surrounded by their close friends and family,” said a representative for Neil Patrick Harris
The newlywed also tweeted on Monday, “Guess what? @DavidBurtka and I got married over the weekend. In Italy. Yup, we put the ‘n’ and ‘d’ in ‘husband’.”
The couple told the world of their engagement on Twitter after a passage of the Marriage Equality Act in New York but they had actually gotten engaged five years before that and has been keeping it a secret for a while.
in 2013, Harris told E! News that him and his long-time partner Burtka, who’s a chef and actor, would of course get married but it’s just a matter of when. He also said, “Certainly, we have children and marriage is an appropriate thing to do [as] a part of their well being, so I’m sure it will be inevitable—and awesome!”
However recently, a certain tabloid claimed that the couple were calling it quits. Of course, the Tony winner, Harris shut the entire rumour down by posting a photo of Burtka and their kids on Instagram with the caption: “I couldn’t be more in love with my family, Any reports to the contrary are woefully mistaken. #grateful.”
