Samantha Katie James who will represent Malaysia in the 66th Miss Universe pageant at Las Vegas, has unveiled her earth-shattering national costume in an exclusive press conference earlier today.
Since last year’s national costume worn by Kiran Jassal has successfully went viral (and instantly put Malaysia on everyone’s radar), Miss Universe Malaysia’s director Datin Elaine Daly revealed that the MUMO team are expecting for Samantha’s outfit to shine as bright as the controversial KLCC jumpsuit too.
Showcasing Swarovski encrusted thigh-high slit dress with two large banana leaves attached on the back, it’s safe to say that the outfit was inspired by the unofficial national dish of Malaysia — Nasi Lemak.
Samantha Katie’s national costume was designed by Brian Khoo and his team of six, who completed the dress in just one month. FYI, the talented designer has held various roles with major fashion labels, and his most recent was with Christian Dior Couture Paris as a designer assistant.
