The Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has detained a female suspect who allegedly insulted Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah on Facebook with the assistance of police.

Last Saturday, Tuanku Abdul Halim called on Malaysians to accept the results of the recent 13th General Election.

The suspect’s friends are also being invited by MCMC for further investigation. The case is being investigated under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 and the suspects also may be charged under Sedition Act 1948.

According to Bernama, the MCMC said it views seriously the abuse of social media to upload content or comments containing elements of insult or humiliation especially against the monarchy. (Source)
