A massive tornado attacked the outer area of Oklahoma City, U.S.A on Monday afternoon and killed at least 51 people including 20 children at an elementary school. 145 people have been hospitalised in the Oklahoma City area and there are still more unknown numbers of injuries who trapped in Plaza Towers.
The tornado was estimated to be at least 2 miles (3.22km) wide at one point as the tornade moved through Moore, south part of Oklahoma. Residents who lived in the vicinity lived without power and water after the disaster.
This devastating tornado in the Oklahoma City suburbs brought to mind a May 1999 EF5 twister that killed 36 people and smashed some of the same community 14 years ago. It hit along the same path and “it’s unbelievable that the same thing could happen again to Moore,” said Gov. Mary Fallin.
Meteorologists warned residents to go underground to survive a direct hit from the tornado.
