Aiming to recognize and bestow awards to esteemed individuals and teams responsible for their contribution to the success of the modeling industry of Malaysia, is the inaugural Malaysia Model Festival Awards (MMFA) 2012. Presented by Kronenbourg 1664, the awards show is projected to be the ground-breaking event of the local modeling scene, with a grand total of 25 prestigious awards.
The two main awards of the MMFA is the Female and Male Star Models of the Year, where both winners will head to Seoul, Korea to be exclusive recipients of the Star Model Award – Malaysia during the 8th Asia Model Festival Awards (AMFA) in 2013. Previous Malaysian recipients of this prestigious award include Deborah Henry, Kelly Jagan, Wilson Tan, Tini, and KS Tan.
Touted as the Academy Awards of Asian modeling and fashion industry, the AMFA is an international red carpet event with 3,000 strong live audience and will be broadcasted over 20 channels across 128 countries, around the world. Some of the international stars who have graced this event include Girls Generation, Rain, Big Bang, Wonder Girls, Beast, Kara, just to name a few.
The Asia New Star Model Contest 2012 – Face of Malaysia (FOM), a nationwide star model search presented by Nestle La Cremeria will also be held in conjunction with the MMFA.
The MMFA is the first of its kind model search as the criteria will not only include model potential, but participants will also have to possess potential star qualities. They will be trained in the art of modeling and the creative art of performance in the entertainment industry.
One female and male winner of FOM will also be sent to Seoul to compete at the international grand finals and potentially be scouted by entertainment companies to be part of the next K-pop group.
