In the Early March, the creative director of Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs has showcased the brand’s Fall 2013 collection during Paris Fashion Week.
However, the French luxury brand Louis Vuitton has gone under fire for its new film featuring their Fall 2013 collection created by Love magazine’s Katie Grand and directed by James Lima. The video features models Cara Delevingne, Edie Campbell, Georgia May Jagger, Isabeli Fontana, and Lily McMenamy sporting the messy wigs and off-balance stances and strutting down the narrow street’s dark allyway of Paris in pieces from the house’s lingerie-inspired collection.
According to our source, the 3-minute clip shocked many viewers and left-wing French paper Libération has published a letter saying it promotes prostitution. The letter details “[assimilates] luxury with the world’s second most profitable criminal activity after drug trafficking.”
The women’s advocacy leaders, including lawyer Dominique Attias said the brand is promoting “an extremely shocking representation of women as something that is playful and enjoyable” which they are trying to fight the idea of prostitution is banal and just a way of getting money to buy clothes.
A representative for Louis Vuitton has told that the video was created as an editorial project and the “backstory” of Marc Jacobs’ Autumn/Winter 2013 collection.
