Empress of the Italian fashion world and one of the most influential figures in the fashion industry, the Editor-in-chief of Vogue Italia Franca Sozzani died at age 66. She passed on in Milan after battling an illness for a year.
Since her appointment as the Editor-in-chief for vogue Italia in 1988, she has reigned the Italian edition of Vogue for 28 years. She was known to be one of the most revolutionary figures in the fashion world who has worked tremendously hard for inclusiveness and diversity in fashion.
She was also the first editor who released an all-black edition of the magazine featuring all black models. In addition, she’s worked as a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations.
Franca’s American counterpart and long term friend Anna Wintour paid her tribute and condolences on Vogue.com, whereby Wintour quoted, ” She also the hardest-working person I have known, and with an envy-inducing ease with multitasking.”
Since the news of the Franca’s death broke, many notable personalities have taken to the social media to pay their respects to this long term power figure.
