Giving out the bad boy vibe with his tattoos and persona, John is the art director for Ish Salon Bangsar and the co-founder of YummyFlowerz. We get to know this charming man with really slick hair a little better this week.
1. Tell us about yourself.
I’ve been a hairdresser for 8 years now and I am currently the Art Director of Ish Salon, Bangsar. I recently got into the whole barber trend that has been going on and developed an interest in fashion. Also, I am a sucker for cakes — Alexis’ Tiramisu would do the trick. 😉 I enjoy music a lot and I have been told that I am a mad person. Haha.
2. How did you decide on pursuing your career and why?
I started hairdressing when I was sixteen. Yes, I am a high school dropout and I took up hairdressing because my dad told me that I had to do something with my life if I wanted to leave school. No regrets on my end as I got pretty good at hairdressing and I have grown to love and be very passionate about it.
3. You’re all inked up. What is it about your tattoos that you like?
I like how they all turned out really well done. If you are planning to get inked then Borneo Ink is the place for you.
4.Do you have a favourite piece?
Let’s be honest here. Like toys, the new one is always the favourite.
5. Who would you rather give you a haircut – Miley Cyrus or Lindsay Lohan and why?
Oh God, neither. Go figure. Haha!
6.What is the first thing about a girl that catches your attention?
THAT A**!! I mean uhhhmmm… That smile! 🙂
7. Best song to get it on to?
Oh wow… I don’t know really but maybe… “Bow Chicka Wow Wow” by Lil Wayne, pun intended.
8. If you were an alcoholic beverage, which one would you be and why?
WHISKEY!! I LOVE WHISKEY!! Why? Because we age the same! Haha!
9. What is the silliest request you have ever gotten at work and how did you react to it?
Oh…the silliest request I have ever gotten was by this client who asked me to revamp or restyle or just pretty much fix her hair but she wanted it to be kept at the same length and boy, her hair was long! In my head, I was thinking “Lady, the job description says hairdresser not magician” but obviously I could not tell her that. I am a nice guy after all.
10. Where do you see yourself in five years?
Probably pretty successful with my career and enjoying life as it goes.
