Every one of us have aspiration to attain certain dreams and goals in life. The key to unlocking your success is by having a burning desire to achieve your dreams, big or small. There are two kinds of people in life, those who accept their life and those who lead their life. If you’re the latter, then taking action in making your dreams a reality will surely get you there.
“The secret to change is one step at a time.” —Mark Twain
Those who have the passion to taste success, they will make every single day count. How? By practicing self-discipline, taking control of their life, create personal learning agenda, and most importantly, having faith and confidence in themselves.
In order to materialize your dreams, you have to set a few doable goals in mind:
1. Start with having the end in mind
What is it that you want to achieve? List down your end goal and work your way backwards. If you lead the way without knowing your final destination, you will end up getting lost along the way and you’ll be back to square one. Once you have your dream looking more vivid, the carving the path will be easier.
2. Access the skills and knowledge you’ll need
Now that you know your end goal or dreams your aspire to achieve, introspect the specific skills you will need to make it work. It could be improving your technical or soft skill. Fuel up on the knowledge you require to best achieve your goals. If you lack a certain skill important that’s key for what you envision, then it might be bumpy road ahead. If you prep yourself well for what’s needed, it can be a smooth sailing journey!
3. Explore your resources
What would be your go-to resource that can help you reach your destination? Is it by developing a relationship with a mentor/co-worker who can give you some insights, finishing up a degree, or enrolling in online classes? Look for that optimal source for every skill you decide you need to learn.
4. Create a learning agenda
Now that you have all the legit information, you’ll be able to craft your learning agenda. Write down all the important skill you’ll require, a specific timeline where and when will you go about it, how you are doing to do it, how to tap on the resources, and where do you start from. Once you have a clear picture with all the details in place, nothing can sway you away from marching ahead.
5. Begin with the most important
With all the many things in the action plan, do what is most important first instead of doing everything at one go. It’s not about attempting the hardest or easiest task first, rather what can be done now. Evaluate and then rank them according to value. Enroll your action plan into M.I.T. (Most Important Thing).
