Kristen Stewart will star as Coco Chanel in a short film directed by designer Karl Lagerfeld, which will debut in December at Chanel’s Métiers d’arts show in Rome.
The short film will be a fictionalised biopic about Coco Chanel, with Stewart playing a young version of Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel. Also starring in this short film is Geraldine Chaplin, who will portray Chanel in middle age, and Harper’s Bazaar editor Laura Brown, who will play an American journalist.
Lagerfeld said that he absolutely loved Stewart’s performance in Still Alice, in which she made the role her very own.
“She played it really, really mean,” he mentioned. “You only see her in tests and she’s complaining about everything. She’s mean with the director, mean with the producer.”
