Time flies when you’re having fun, and the proverbial curtains inevitably descended on the 5-day KL Fashion Week (KLFW) 2022. But what a week! On the afternoon of 21st August 2022, we were presented with two major fashion labels that have made a huge impact on Malaysia’s fashion scene – Super Sunday and BEHATI. Yes, from trendy streetwear to avant-garde fashion inspired by traditional silhouettes, these two runway shows certainly went further and beyond our expectations. Without further ado, this is KLFW Day 5:
Super Sunday
Super Sunday had us gasping from the start of the show, since they opened with a model smoothly cruising across the runway on a skateboard – an exciting and fitting entrance for the streetwear brand! We were then served with a collection of eye-catching pieces, all thanks to the bold colours and patterns that reminded us of graffiti art. A key part of this collections’ aesthetic are balaclavas, which is all the rage now and can be seen on many high fashion runways.

BEHATI
Known for breaking the norms in Malaysian traditional costume design, BEHATI certainly did not disappoint! Taking inspiration from classic silhouettes that many Malaysians may be familiar with, BEHATI introduced oversized and vibrant colours, which was quite a twist. The show was accompanied by traditional Chinese drums that made the entire runway even more spectacular. Moreover, models were towering over us as we watched in awe since they wore thick, clunky heels that resembled traditional Chinese wooden red clogs.
