Look 1: Party Hat – Sereni and Shentel, Necklace – Guess, China Blue Dress – Miss Selfridge, Red Clutch – Orioli, Blue Pumps – Marks and Spencer

Name: Shannon Keng

Age: 24

Occupation: Communications

Describe your personal style: My personal style varies from day to day. Nevertheless, I am a girly-girl at heart. I dress according to mood and to occasion. For instance, if I were to have dinner with my friends, I will opt for a nice dinner dress, simple accessories, heels and a clutch. However, if I am going to work or a casual day out, I will throw on something very casual and effortless. I particularly love investment pieces like coloured blazers. Colored blazers with the right fit and structure will brighten up any outfit and they are so functional, you can use it from day to day and can be paired with different outfits.

Elegant Dinner Outfit

Look 2: Black Dress – Dressing Paula, Gold Clutch – Hong Kong

What do you think of the fashion scene in KL: Personally, I would state that the fashion scene in KL is up and coming. Partly because we tend to receive “trendy pieces” a little later than other markets. Say for instance, if Miss Selfridge releases a new collection this week, it will only come into our shores a few weeks sometimes even a month later. However, there are some brands in Malaysia that I really admire like Sereni and Shentel, who have put themselves on the fashion mark worldwide for coming up with really unique accessories and dictating pieces like unique headbands as fashion accessories. Apart from that, there are also works like Beatrice Looi who have created really nice fun flirty dresses, which I saw on catalogues that I really like. There is hope for KL with some of our local designers.

Casual Outfit

Look 3: Green Top and Pink Heart Shaped Bag – Bangkok, Black Jeans – Dorothy Perkins, Blue Pumps – Marks and Spencer

Your Favourite Place To Shop: Miss Selfridge! However, it can break the bank sometimes. For affordable alternatives, I prefer places like Bangkok where you can get unique pieces for reasonable prices. I love a good bargain hunt, whether they are local or international brands or unique shops. When I purchase something, I usually think of the cost per wear and also the uniqueness of the prints, cutting and design. If the quality is good and the price is right I will purchase it. Yes, quality is very important to me. The price can be low, but if the outfit is of cheap quality, then I would not purchase it. I have purchased tops for as low as RM 8 that have lasted me years.
