Describe your personal style: I’d say my style has a flair for androgyny. I would choose pants over skirts any day. I normally like to have fun with what I wear and I’m currently experimenting with a variety of silhouettes. I also tend to get attached to certain pieces like my Tony Bianco clutch for instance. I carry it everywhere and force my outfits to go with the clutch! At the end of the day, you’re dressing for yourself and nobody else.
Your thoughts on the fashion scene in Kuala Lumpur: As I’m currently based in Perth, Australia, it’s interesting to see how the fashion in KL has grown over the years. I’ve been looking into some amazing local designers like Joe Chia, Pearly Wong and Jonathan Liang. They showcase some really bold designs and silhouettes. It’s also interesting to see fashion lines being inspired by our culture and heritage like the batik for instance. As fashion is a form of expression, it’s great to see a myriad of inspiration in KL’s fashion scene.
Your favourite place to shop: Fast fashion stores like Zara and Topshop are the easiest places to get stylish basics. ASOS also carries a variety of brands so you’re always spoilt for choices. But lately, I have been looking at fashion designers in Perth who design some really interesting pieces. Vintage and thrift stores in Australia carry some really good pieces at affordable prices. You also help a charity out while shopping at thrift stores!
