Yet another K-pop group isn’t making it through the ‘7-year curse’ as JYP Entertainment has confirmed the disbandment of South Korean girl group Miss A. Though it isn’t unexpected, K-pop fans are still sad to see the girls part ways.
In a brief statement released by JYP Entertainment on Dec 27, the entertainment agency that is also home to K-pop groups like 2PM and Got7 officially announced Miss A’s disbandment. Originally a group of four, the band consists of three Chinese members – Fei, Jia and Min along with Bae Suzy which together formed Miss A.
Miss A’s disbandment was only a matter of time, considering the group’s long break since their last album Colors in 2015. Still remaining in a group, the members continued focusing on their own solo activities until members Jia and Min reportedly left the group after their contracts expired in May last year and November this year respectively.
Upon the departure of both members, remaining members Suzy and Fei continued to renew their contracts with JYP and the agency revealed that no current decisions were made on Miss A’s activities in the future.
Short for Miss Asia, Miss A debuted with the massive hit “Bad Girl Good Girl” in 2010, which got the girls off a flourishing start, bagging the Song of the Year award and Best New Female Artist award on that very year at the Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA).
Well, there goes another K-pop group calling it quits..
