Now in its fourth year, talent discovery program ‘Project Aloft Star, Amplified By MTV’ has received over 1,500 original song entries from applicants spanning across 9 countries including Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Australia, S.Korea, China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
The competition kicked off on 5th July and culminated in the finals for the Southeast Asia and Australia cluster on 20th October at Aloft Perth Hotel’s W XYZ Bar.
Having started his musical path by sharing covers on Instagram and YouTube, the winner, Indonesian artist Mr.HeadBox impressed a panel of judges from Aloft as well as MTV with his original hit “Young” — kicking out three other finalists Coin Banks, Staygold and Francis Roman.
The talented musician will receive mentorship from MTV and a deal for marketing with Believe Distribution Services, followed by US$10,000 cash prize to fund his music journey.

The finals for South Korea will take place on 26th October at Aloft Seoul Myeongdong, and the Greater China cluster will take place on 3rd November at Aloft Dongguan Dynamic Town.
