It’s hard to deny that it’s never easy to stop procrastinating when you’re not in the mood for anything at all. But at work, when time calls for a serious deadline, there’s no room for procrastination. But what happens when you’re just not motivated enough to start working on that presentation?

Here’s a simple 4-step guide to keep that pesky procrastinator away from getting the job done.

1. Create a Specific To-Do List

Even though you know you’ve got five important tasks to get done in the office all memorized in your mind, it’s still better to write it all down on a Post-it note and leaving it somewhere visible on your desk. Write down all your tasks that needs to be done, and feel free to beautify it a little bit just to get boost your moods up a little. If there’s something you need to do that’s a little more metic

2. Prioritize

Once you’ve created your to-do list, start ticking out which ones are most important to do first. Whether it’s the first deadline of the day, prioritize your tasks accordingly so that you’ll know just which things to get started on first. It also helps with keeping your sanity in check and perhaps less clutter on your desk or even your mind.

3. Make a Deadline

Some people can respond well to an allotted time to get something done. With all the intense lists and priority check-lists, assigning times to each tasks will help spur you into getting more things done because it’s a no-brainer that a lot of us work better under stress, right? If you’re not working better, at least things get done. The point to setting a deadline is to use it as a personal challenge to avoid wasting time or to manage your time.

4. Reward Yourself

When you’ve spent the entire afternoon getting things done like a hurricane, you’ll know just how rewarding it is to have some free time for a little breather! If you do have a little free time, reward yourself with a little stroll down the street just to clear your mind and recharge. Alternatively, you could also have a chuckle or two going onto Google looking up funny pictures of cats.
