Ah the many phases of hair. You may walk out of the salon today all happy and pleased with your new hair color or cut but a month or two from now when you get the dreaded pudding hair (black roots, brown hair) or the flippy ends from the bob cut you loved so much, you’re going to want to pull your hair out as you try to deal without whining about your hair every other day.
So Scarlett Johanssen inspired you to get a bob cut but now that she’s already grown out of it, so do you but now that it’s hitting your shoulders, the ends of your hair are curling outwards and it irritates you to no end. Until your hair grows out a little longer consider sporting a loose knot or updo for several weeks. It’s a simple, chic and sophisticated look that will highlight your neck.
According to hair stylists, you’re supposed to get a haircut every two months to keep your hair in shape and trim out split ends but if you’re tight on finances and don’t plan to trim frequently, make this fact known to your stylist. Get him or her to give you a cut that will last for several months with little maintenance such as layers.
You went a shade or two lighter and now that your roots are growing out you’ve got the dreaded pudding hair. Coloring your hair too frequently can result in severe hair damage if not treated well. Give more time in between dyeing. If you’re embarassed by the black patch on your crown try covering up with hair accessories such as a beanie, a scarf, a large bow or hairband until your next hair appointment.
Bangs can either make or break you. While it may look great on some, on others it can make them look too young. Bangs always seem to look fabulous on celebrities but you should realize that nobody wakes up looking like a million bucks. There are plenty of hair products involved as well as blow drying. The problem with bangs is that they grow out very quickly so whether you’re waiting to get it trimmed or growing it out, try clipping it up by pulling it back or pinning it to the side of your face for a polished look. The next time you consider doing something drastic to your hair, always consider the consequences a few months down the road and be prepared to live with it or prepare to fork out more cash for maintenance. Like it or not beautiful hair takes effort, time and money so if you’re not prepared to do all that has been mentioned, get a haircut or hair color that is easy to maintain in the long run. Communicate with your hair stylist and trust him or her to know what’s best for you.
