Aging is a natural process everyone’s bound to go through and these natural changes were captured by a talented photographer, Tom Hussey, in a touching series of photographs titled ‘Reflections’, that illustrates the discrepancies between how old we look and how young we feel.
This concept was discovered through a conversation between Hussey and an 80-year-old World War II veteran who couldn’t believe how quickly time had passed by. Tom Hussey told the American Society of Media Photographers, “He commented that he didn’t understand how he could be 80 years old as he felt he was still a young man. He just didn’t feel it was possible he could be 80 years old.”
‘Reflections’ won at the 2010 Communication Arts Photography Annual and his photographs were used for Novarist’s marketing campaign for the Exelon Patch, which is a therapy patch used for the treatment of mild to moderate Alzheimer’s disease.
These impressive photographs show a person’s age gap (about 40 to 50 years) from all walks of life, including scientists, firemen, teachers and nurses looking into the mirror. These photographs are also realistic and heart-rending, capturing the baffling relationship we have with our changing bodies as we age.
