House Of Suntory’s New ‘SUI’ Gin Is SUIeeeeeeeeet!

For many, no holiday would be complete without a bit of booze. This year, a new gin has entered the scene, and it’s perfect for any holiday feast! Known for its famous ROKU Gin, the House of Suntory has introduced SUI, a gin made in Japan and crafted with unique Japanese botanicals.

It’s made from a combination of the traditional eight gin botanicals – juniper berry, coriander seed, angelica seed, angelica root, cardamom, cinnamon, bitter orange peel, and lemon peel – but is given a signature Japanese flair with the addition of Yuzu (Japanese citrus), Ryokucha (green tea) and ginger. The result is a gin that is clear and refreshing, and pairs well with everyday meals.

Why ‘SUI’?

SUI takes its name from the Kingfisher. On the bottle, the bold Kanji character is inked by master calligrapher Tansetsu Ogino. Also appearing on the bottle is a Kanji character meaning Jade – a nod to its all-hexagonal shape, reflecting clear and beautiful blue-green accents that speak of Suntory’s hope that SUI will spread its wings and soar high in the gin market.

Crafted With Unique Japanese Botanicals For A Clear And Refreshing Taste

SUI comes from the same Suntory Osaka factory that provided the world with Hermes Gin in 1936 and Roku Gin in 2017. SUI’s development and refinement are based on Suntory’s more than 100 years of experience in producing high-quality spirits.

SUI’s three Japanese botanicals were carefully chosen, since they are widely seen in Japanese culinary dishes. Yuzu, a citrus fruit, is widely used to enhance flavour in Japanese recipes. It adds a refreshing citrus aroma and taste to SUI, opening up the palate.

In Japan, green tea is served with a variety of dishes. In SUI, it provides subtle umami overtones for a rich body that complements meals. Finally, ginger is a popular spice in many Japanese recipes. The brightness of Yuzu, the depth of Green Tea, and the delicate spice of Ginger combine to create a gin that is as versatile as it is smooth.

Tasting Notes

The desire of the House of Suntory to create Western spirits tailored to the Japanese palate is shared by people from all over the world. Each traditional Japanese botanical has its own palate, especially when paired with Japanese delicacies like edamame, noodles, and yakitori. Dumplings, salmon, curries, and paté complement the refreshing taste of SUI Gin, which goes well with food from all over the world. It’s the ideal beverage to have with every meal!

The perfect combination and ratio are essential for enjoying the refreshing taste of SUI Gin. Consider gathering your friends for a celebration at your favourite Japanese restaurant! All you need is a bottle of SUI Gin in the ideal combination… say hello to SUI Gin & Soda!

Need a little bit more zing? Add a splash of tonic water and enjoy it as a SUI Gin Tonic! You can even create your own cocktail of flavours by adding your very own infusion; a squeeze of lemon, a tablespoon of Yuzu juice, raw grated ginger, or green tea. You can even get trendy by adding a touch of unique favours such as crushed plum, wasabi, Shiso leaves, or frozen oranges. SUI Gin always does the trick!

Where to get SUI Gin:

Packaged in a 700ml bottle, SUI Gin will be available at select restaurants and bars. It will also be available at select retail outlets such as All Jaya Grocer, Village Grocer, Sunshine, BIG, Mercato, The Food Merchant, De Market, Urban Fresh and AEON Big. You can also purchase SUI Gin online at The Good Stuff, Wholly Spirit and Whiskery.
