Famed designer Isabel Marant has teamed up with H&M for its Autumn 2013 collection, creating extremely wearable looks that project Marant’s distinctive and iconic style into an eclectic wardrobe of must-have urban staples with a trademark Parisian flair. The contemporary collection by Marant also includes everything a woman needs; from tees to sweatshirts, from tailored outerwear to dresses, from chunky knits to sexy boots and bohemian accessories.
While being an eclectic mix of boho elegance and rock ‘n’ roll nonchalance, the spirit of the collection is quintessentially Marant, featuring coats and jackets with strong shoulders and cocooning cuts, alongside skinny trousers, sweatshirt, loose blouses, floaty dresses and textured knits.
A similar free-mix spirit extends to the teen wardrobe, which is playful adaptation of its grown-up counterpart, focusing on prints. Marant herself, sees no real distinction between the two collections and as a designer who had first started rebelling against accepted norms as a teenager, it makes perfect sense to her.
With this collection also comes a range of clothing specially designed for men, which is interspersed with the same careless vibe of the womenswear. Comprised with the collection are precisely-tailored outerwear and heavy knits, motorbike leather trousers, tie-dye T-shirts, western-style jeans and shirts as well as the iconic hooded sweatshirt.
The colour palette for all the clothes in the collection include concrete-jungle tones of black, charcoal and grey brightened by touches of white and red, garnished with tie-dye prints and jacquards. All the pieces also come in fabrics that are soft yet firm or have a certain fluidity like wool, canvas, jersey and leather.
Accessories are boho accents and Marant has translated her signature style into beaded chains, skinny scarves and long metal belts mixed with bangles, bracelets and earrings. Additionally, other accessories include cone-heeled soft boots, a pair of very Parisian high-heel pumps whereas knitted scarves, beanies, rocker boots, printed trainers, sailor caps and beaded belts punctuate the men’s wardrobe.
The Isabel Marant Pour H&M collection will be available at all H&M outlets in Malaysia starting November 14 2013.
