Get your faux singing tools ready, ’cause NBC has released a trailer for Hairspray Live! on Monday, November 21, just weeks before the much anticipated premiere of the live musical event and it has us all singing “You Can’t Stop the Beat” from the trailer’s catchy signature tune.
Fans have plenty to be excited about the star studded TV production, which features A-listers Ariana Grande (Penny Pingleton), Jennifer Hudson (Motormouth Maybelle), Martin Short (Wilbur Turnblad), Derek Hough (Corny Collins) and newcomer Maddie Baillio as the iconic Tracy Turnblad.

Two powerhouse vocalists, Ariana Grande and Jennifer Hudson, who are both starring in the holiday musical event, will be joining forces and end the telecast with a special duet. This is one of the many occasions that we see Ariana without her signature high ponytail, and she’s pulling off the sleek ’60s babe look just fine!
This is not Ariana’s first experience with musical theatre. The singer actually got her start in the short-lived 2008 Broadway musical 13, when she was 14 years old. We also get to see Maddie Baillio in her first professional role as Tracy Turnblad, alongside her parents: Tony Award-winning Harvey Fierstein as Edna Turnblad and Martin Short as Wilbur Turnblad.
Hairspray Live! airs live from Los Angeles on 7th Dec 2016 at 8 PM (USA time) on NBC.
