It’s only a matter of time for all the websites to turn into a total joke today and we wouldn’t be surprised when Google’s doing it too! Although it is not a official public holiday, but we all know that this is a special day for all pranksters to unleash their ‘prank’ powers on all the fools. In fact, it’s a tradition for Google and some other websites to pull off pranks and jokes on us. Want to know what Google is up to? Take a look at what they have for you on April Fools’ Day!
1. Shutting Down YouTube
Oh the horror! This could be a major heart attack to some of the Youtube lovers as well Youtube icons! But luckily, we can safely guarantee that it was all just a joke because well, it was announced on April 1st! In a video published by YouTube, the site jokinly announced it will shut down today and the 8-year competition to find the best video is over. The video also showed how it will takes 10 years for YouTube to relaunch in 2023 when winners is announced. Everything was done perfectly that we almost fell into the fool trap too! But come to think of it, Youtube shut down wouldn’t be so bad after all because there are a whole lot more video sites such as Vimeo, Daily Motion and so on.
2. Google Treasure Map
Captain Jack Sparrow may have accidentally left his treasure map on Google today as there’s a new “Treasure Map” was found on Google Maps! But in a video, Google explained the map belongs to the pirate William “Captain” Kidd instead and some locations have mini maps and a letter X indicating the treasure spot. Users are invited to help crack the code and find the treasure with hidden clues.
3. Google Nose
The technology is so advanced that smelling has gone digital now with the latest Google Nose! In a video, Google shows how Google Nose BETA allows users to “search for smells” and promises to “offer the sharpest olfactory experience available”. The he product intersects “photons with infrasound waves” and “temporarily aligns molecules to emulate a particular scent.” With a just a tap on the “smell” button, the product will collect the smells on your phone and Google the scent of your choice!
4. Your Photos + Emotion
Want to show how much you care about your friends? Why not express your emoticons on the picture of your friend? Google Plus joined in the April Fools trend as they announced a new tool “Your photos + Emotion” that allows users to add emoticons to uploaded images. The team explained that it is about all about sharing your experiences in a more expressive way by placing emotions with the people you care about.
We are pretty sure Google and other sites will continue to roll out some jokes but you might be having a hard time differentiate the actual news and the jokes though!
