It’s hard to undo the damage your hair suffering. Your hair structure weakens as soon as you stop taking care of your scalp or try various chemical treatments like perming, dyeing and more. Coming up with a proper haircare routine is crucial to maintain a healthy mane. It’s surprising to know that some people are still unaware about the many ways of caring for their hair.

If you’re still unsure about a haircare ritual, this guide is filled with haircare basics that will help give you healthier locks.

Normal Hair: The perfect hair type that looks healthy and good all the time. It is neither dry nor greasy and can easily be styled.
Dry Hair: Dry hair can look coarse and it’s pretty hard to maintain. It’s prone to lots of tangles and  the split ends are more visible than usual.
Fine and Greasy: Fine and/or greasy hair lacks volume and it generally looks flat as you style. It also looks shiny, but in all the wrong places. Greasy scalps require more care and maintenance as negligence can cause flaking and dandruff.

To start a proper haircare routine you need to choose the right hair care products that will treat your hair condition. Much like your skincare routine, your hair routine should involve cleansing, moisturizing and treatment. Once you get the right products, there are proper steps to take for your regular hair care routine.

Wash
It’s definitely a must to wash our hair in order to cleanse. It’s not necessary to wash your hair everyday, but you many need to especially if you have greasy hair. Let your hair hang naturally and rinse thoroughly with warm or cold water. Pour the right amount of shampoo on your palm so that it’s enough to cover all of it. Wash and massage gently with your fingertips but remember not to dig in your scalp with your nails. Do not pile it up on top of your head as it may cause tangles.

Conditioning
Our hair wax protection level is limited for a maximum of 5 inches from your head. For girls with long hair, you need extra protection for the remaining one. After cleansing your hair with shampoo, apply the conditioner to the lengths of your hair without touching the scalp. Leave on for a minute or two and rinse off the conditioner.

Drying
Using a clean, dry towel and pat your hair gently. Gently loosen some tangles using a wide-toothed comb and comb in downward stroke. Apply a hair serum or hair treatment oil to keep it moisturized.

If you need to use hair dryer, on the lowest heat and slowest speed and keep the dryer moving constantly over your head. Don’t concentrate heat at one spot because dry and damage your  scalp. Switch off you’re the hair dryer before your hair is completely dry. To add volume to the crown of your hair, use your hair and scrunch close to the roots as blow dry.

Treatment

A weekly hair treatment at home is a great way to give your hair back the nourishment it requires after all that washing and styling. A simple de-frizz treatment can go a long way, but a hair mask made of natural ingredients is even better, especially when you do it every week. Egg, honey, avocado and lemon juice are perfect things in your pantry that’s absolutely great for your hair. Check out these simple recipes here.
