Last Friday, we were at Sunway Pyramid for its Shop Like A Pro campaign for the Chinese New Year season and let us tell you, it’s been a long time since we did some serious shopping. We were given two hours and RM888 to come up with a festive CNY look along with a list of participating merchants.
This year’s theme at Sunway Pyramid is ‘Cheery Wooly Spring’ (from 16 Jan to 22 Feb) to commemorate the Year of the Sheep and if you’ve been visiting the mall (like us!) there are tons of adorable fluffy sheep in equally adorable colours, exciting festive activities and exclusive redemptions that have been flying off the wall.
If you spend RM1000 in three receipts (RM800 for HSBC Credit Cardholders), an exclusive Fluffs of Joy Sheep Pillow is yours via redemption and there are five huggable candy colours to choose from (check out the yellow one in our style portion below!). Those who spend RM250 (RM150 for HSBC Credit Cardholders) in a single receipt will be entitled to redeem a set of limited edition All Season Prosperity Ang Pow that’s adorned with delicate and pretty spring flowers.

We’ve mixed up high-street pieces with budget buys for a wearable look that not only offers comfort, but style as well.
1. A red and orange affair
You can’t go wrong with a pair of jeans and these Levi’s Limited Edition CNY jeans are on top on our list. Wear it with a soft, breezy tank top and accessorise with a chunky gold necklace. Don’t forget a cute pouch for your ang pows!

2. Coral comfort
We’ve been seeing heaps of corals this year for CNY and let’s be honest, it’s a great colour that will suit most individuals. This casual look is laid-back but does not compromise on style. We suggest pairing this coral playsuit with small and bright lemon accessories.

3. Pastel perfection

4. For him
It’s never an easy task picking out items for guys but from personal experience, men appreciate pieces that are versatile and a great cut really goes a long way. The pants we selected for him are solid colours that will go with a loud festive top but more importantly, they have a modern classic cut to keep things current.

Needless to say, the two hours we were given flew by just like that but nevertheless, we managed to squeeze in a fair amount of items. Serious and hardcore shoppers will be delighted to know that for the CNY period, Sunway Pyramid is offering a porter boy and buggy service from 16 January to 18 February between the hours of 11am to 11pm. Shoppers can request for a free buggy ride to their cars at selected car park entrances everyday or if you just can carry your shopping bags anymore, let the Porter Boys assist you on weekends and public holidays!
