Newspapers have been our source of information (both in the country and internationally) for the longest time! This time around, we’re using it as a nail art. This nail art tutorial is so easy to do, doesn’t require much skill or even materials. All you need are these four basic things, that most girls already have.
Things you need:
– Newspaper
– a small cup of water
– light coloured nail polish
– top coat nail polish
First, you’ll need to paint your nails using a light colour, preferably tones of white and grey. I opted for a lilac grey colour (so it’ll look more like a newspaper) and also painted my index finger a pastel mint green to see how well this effect works on pastel colours. Make sure to completely dry it throughly before moving on to the next step!
Make sure you have your newspapers ready before the next step. You can probably already tear strips of the newspapers before even painting your nails or you can do it after your nails are completely dry. Pick the page with a lot of fonts and tear it into tiny long pieces as shown below:
Make sure your nails are throughly dry and then proceed to the next step. Use a small cup and fill it up with water. Dip each nail into the water for 5 seconds each. It is recommended to do it one by one as you do the next step.
Immediately right after, use a piece of torn newspaper onto your nail and wrap it around (which is why I recommended cutting the the newspaper into long strips instead of small ones). You may need to slightly wet the newspaper that is on your nail (and only that part!), press on it firmly and hold it down so that the fonts on the newspaper transfers to your nail. I recommend doing it for a minute each if possible, as the fonts will turn out darker and more obvious.
Once you’ve done all five nails, here’s the end result! All you need to do next is paint the topcoat and let it dry. The topcoat has to be applied, as without it the newspaper ink will rub off. Also, using the topcoat goives your nails a nice shiny finish.
Clear the sides of your nails using nail polish remove to get rid of access newspaper ink or nail polish from earlier and you’re done!
