K-drama Descendants of the Sun practically broke the internet when it was aired in 2016, sparking a worldwide cultural phenomenon as the hottest Korean drama ever.
More than the military-based storyline, hallyu fans specially went gaga over the main cast, Song Joong-ki who played a soldier, and OG Korean actress Song Hye Kyo, Song’s love interest who is also a surgeon.
Now, the pair is causing a worldwide commotion once again as they are set to get married in real life on October 31, according to the actors’ agencies.
“Song Joong-ki and Song Hye Kyo will be holding a wedding ceremony on the final day of October, 2017,” Blossom Entertainment and United Artists Agency announced.
“A marriage is not only a private matter but also a meeting between two families, so it was a delicate situation in many ways.
“There was no choice but to be cautious prior to marriage, and so we are at last conveying this message. We ask for everyone’s understanding.
“We ask for you to send the couple best wishes for their beautiful future together, and the two actors will be conveying the news to their fans separately. Thank you.”
As to how their blossoming romance began, a friend of the couple said, “The two of them began falling in love last February, before Descendants Of The Sun began filming. The drama started filming mid-2015, and only aired after it was completely filmed.”
