Dealing With Leeches

Food, drinks, clothes – you name it and they need to have it. Sounds familiar? Yes some friends are just like that. Everything you have, they would like to have it as well and that’s not all. Some go to the extreme of wanting you to buy these items for them as well.

Friends who are leeches can be extremely hard to deal with and to a certain extend, they can start to drain your energy as well. Not sure how you should deal with them?  Well we have got five simple tips for you.

Talk to her

Bottling up your feelings would not do anyone any good. When it comes to friendships, the best way to get out of a problem would be by talking to that person. Be fair and let her know that you’re not so in favour of how she has been behaving. Let her know that you need your space as well and that your life doesn’t revolve around her completely.

Avoid revealing personal problems

No matter how disappointed you are, avoid revealing personal problems to friends who are leeches. Most of the time they tend to use your downfall for their own advantage. To avoid any problems, try your best not to reveal anything to them which they could possibly use against you.

Be firm

Friends like this usually knows your weakness very well. When dealing with leeches, you should always be very firm in what you do and in what you say. For instance, she is in a mood to hang out and you aren’t. Let her know that you are really not up for it and be firm with your answer. It may be hard for the first few times but eventually she would understand that she can’t push you around.

Play smart

Dealing with leeches can be extremely hard as they will try every possible method to make you fall into their trap. But at the same time, you feel bad for treating her like that and you can’t stop thinking about the multiple ’emotional issues’ that she is suffering from. To be fair, make it a point to meet her at least once a week or two weeks once. By doing this, slowly she would start to learn that you have priorities as well and she can only meet you on certain days.

Drift away slowly

You have made up your mind that no matter what, you would like to end this friendship. But you do not know how to do it? Well if that is your ultimate decision, then what you should really do is to drift away slowly. Doing it instantly would just leave a deeper scar on the both of you. For instance, reduce the amount of times you guys meet each and another and slowly things will start to change.
