The wait is over for fans hoping to see which star would play James Bond. In case you’ve had high hopes that we’ll get a new Bond (*cough* Idris Elba *cough*), you’ll be sorely disappointed to hear that Daniel Craig is coming back to reprise the role of the British superspy.
Last week, a report from The New York Times suggested that his return for the 25th Bond film was a “done deal” – despite his previous much-quoted statement that he’d rather “slash his own wrists” than step back into the role.
The plot for the 25th James Bond film has reportedly been revealed, with the iconic character heading to Croatia to battle against a blind supervillain. The release date for the film was confirmed last week, with the new movie set to hit cinemas in 2019.
While Daniel Craig’s involvement is yet to be officially confirmed, The Mirror claims that the film currently boasts a working title Shatterhand and is based on the 2001 thriller Never Dream of Dying by American author Raymond Benson.
In the novel, a superspy is forced into action once more after a police raid on a French movie studio goes wrong. Bond scriptwriters are reportedly convinced that it’s the perfect plot to follow 2015’s Spectre. The new film will be written by regular Bond screenwriters Neal Purvis and Robert Wade and produced by Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli.
