Smokers will probably feel their wallets lighting up as British American Tobaccao Malaysia (BAT Malaysia) has announced an increase in the prices of all its cigarette brands.
From today onwards, the new price for Dunhill, Kent and Benson & Hesges is set at RM10.50, while Peter Stuyvesant and Pall Mall range will be sold at RM9.00 each.
The price for Pall Mall plain, Lucky Strike and Rothmans International are revised to RM10.90 each.
Datuk William Toh, Managing Director of BAT Malaysia said the company was facing inflationary pressures, labour and input cots, resulting in the rise of its operating costs. Furthermore, he adds that the legal tobacco industry volumes wet also affected by continuing high levels of illicit trade. (Source)
