Carrie Fisher will forever be in our hearts as Princess Leia, but it was very difficult to swallow when it was speculated that the Star Wars franchise would continue without her. Fret not as her brother, Todd Fisher, has confirmed that her legacy will live on in Star Wars: Episode IX without CGI.

Todd and Carrie Fisher’s daughter Billie Lourd have given Lucasfilm and Disney permission to utilise “recent footage” in the upcoming film. As for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Episode VIII, the actress completed filming for it before her sudden death in December.

“Both of us were like, ‘Yes, how do you take her out of it?’ And the answer is you don’t,” mentioned Todd. “She’s as much a part of it as anything, and I think her presence now is even more powerful than it was, like Obi-Wan—when the saber cuts him down, he becomes more powerful. I feel like that’s what’s happened with Carrie. I think the legacy should continue.”

Yes folks, we will be able to witness Princess Leia’s power on screen one final time.
