Good news, Penangites!
A Penang Sky Cab cable car system linking Penang Sentral in Butterworth to the island is now in the works and it is expected to be completed in 2018.
The cable car project, which is an initiative of the state government and Penang Sentral, will be 3km long and will take about 15 minutes travel time. Per direction every hour, it will be able to accommodate 1,000 passengers.
This is a great travel alternative that is more comfortable, quicker and more convenient. Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng mentions that the project aims to decrease the public’s dependence on automobiles.
So far, the fare prices haven’t been announced.
